Most Improved Awards 2023
From start to finish, who improved the most?
The conclusion of the 2023 DCI season gives us the opportunity to look back and see how each performing group improved over the course of the season. While the medals have been handed out for the top three finishing corps we take the opportunity here to give out awards for those that made the biggest improvement over the course of their season. We use a calculation called Delta Score to quantify the tangible progress and performance improvements made by each competing group throughout the season. The Delta Score is calculated by subtracting the initial score received by the group at the beginning of the season from their final score.
The formula for calculating Delta Score is as follows:
Delta Score = Final Score - Initial Score
For example, if a group starts the season with an initial score of 70.000 and achieves a final score of 90.000, the Delta Score would be:
Delta Score = 90.000 - 70.000 = 20.000
In the tables below you will find the top 10 most improved groups ranked by delta score for overall, music, visual, and general effect categories.
Most Improved Overall 2023 - Top 10
The Colts won the award for the most improved overall for the 2023 season with their score improving by nearly 25 points (+24.963), followed by Troopers (+22.725), and Carolina Crown (+22.663).
